How to update Two-Factor Authentication Method for Text and SMS
How to Reset Your Stripe 2FA Phone Number, specifically for Text and SMS users.
Step 1:
Begin by logging into your Stripe account at dashboard.stripe.com. After logging in, you’ll land on the main Stripe dashboard.
Step 2:
From your dashboard, look toward the top-right corner and click on the gear icon. This will open your account settings.

Step 3:
In the settings menu, scroll down to the section labeled "Personal Settings" and select "Personal Details."

Step 4:
Within the Personal Details page, locate the section for your current authentication method.If your 2FA is set to SMS, you’ll see your current phone number listed under "Text message." To begin updating this, click on the three dots next to the listed phone number.
Finally, select the “Update” option similar to how it is in the picture.

Step 5:
An option confirming that you want to use text messages will pop up. Please select the option that is in red, as it is in the picture below, which states “I still want to use text messages”.

Step 6:
Stripe will then ask to verify your identity using your account email address. Make sure the email displayed is correct and confirm to move forward.


Step 7:
You will receive an email from Stripe with a link to verify your identity. Open the email and click on the button or link labeled “Verify Identity.”

Step 8:
After clicking the link, a new screen will briefly open and close automatically. This indicates that your identity has been successfully verified.
Step 9:
You’ll now return to the Stripe page where you can update your authentication method. The page will show the last 4 digits of your current phone number, press continue to the final step.

Step 10:
After entering the new number, click “Update.” Stripe will send a verification code to the new number. Enter the code when prompted to complete the change.

Once this is done, your 2FA will be fully switched over to the new phone number, and you can use it for future verifications.
