Star Micronics Printer Troubleshooting
Check for damage.
Has the printer been dropped, damaged or gotten wet?
Make sure that the printer is charged.
Make sure that you have the most recent version of the Hometown Gate App installed.
Make sure that the phone/tablet that you are connecting the printer to has completed any available software updates.
Make sure that bluetooth is turned on for the phone/tablet that you are attempting to connect the printer to.
Check that the Hometown Gate App has permission to access bluetooth/nearby devices. (Gate App requires bluetooth, location, and camera permissions.)
Hold down the power button for roughly 5 seconds to turn on the printer.
Connect the printer via bluetooth directly to the tablet’s bluetooth settings.
The standard bluetooth pairing code for Star printers is 1234.
Star printers can only be connected to one phone/tablet at a time. (You may need to “Forget this Device”, in the Bluetooth menu on a phone/tablet that it was previously connected to if it is nearby.)
If the above steps did not resolve the issue, please answer the following questions.
Are you able to connect the printer to the Hometown Gate App?
Is this a new printer? Or has this printer worked in the past?
If it has worked in the past, when did the issue start?
Are you receiving any type of error message?
If so, please describe or provide a screenshot of the error message.
Please also note exactly what actions preceded you receiving the error message or encountering a specific issue.
Is the error occurring every time you attempt that action?
If you have more than one printer, is this issue occurring across all/multiple devices? Or is it isolated to one particular printer?
Is the phone/tablet that you are connecting the printer to running on Android or iOS?
Please follow the below steps to get a printout of the printer’s current settings and submit that to your CSM or HT Support.
Make sure the printer is turned off.
Press and hold down the power and feed buttons at the same time.
Continue to hold both buttons down until the printer says "Print Test" and prints out a test sheet with the settings listed.
Once the test print has completed, release both buttons and send a picture to HT to check that all settings are correct.
