How To Postpone or Cancel An Event

Are you needing to cancel or reschedule your event due to weather, venue issues, or any other number of reasons? We have some helpful tips for how to handle your event in the box office. 

Cancelling an Event

  1. Update the event name to include “Canceled.”

  2. Use the Notify Guest tool in the Guest List to send a message to all purchasers. If you plan to refund all transactions, please be sure to clearly note that in your message to avoid questions.

  3. If applicable, submit a request for a Bulk Refund through Hometown. This will refund all orders within the event.

  4. To prevent further sales, either set the event status to unpublished or edit the end of sale date and time for each ticket level

Rescheduling an Event

  1. Update the event name to include “Rescheduled.”

  2. Update the event date and time.

  3. Navigate to the Orders List and select Bulk Resend Email. This will resend confirmation emails so guests have tickets with the updated information.

  4. Use the Notify Guest tool to inform purchasers that their tickets will remain valid for the new date. If applicable, include refund instructions, such as:

    • “Please contact [email] to request a refund,” or…

    • “No refunds will be issued.”
